From the sensitive pen of İpek S. Burnett, Hayran Gözlü Çocuklar (Children with Admiring Eyes) is a novel of unfinished love, hope, lost possibilities and friendships. A novel sealed with the verses of Nazım Hikmet, wistful with the shadow of memories, adorned with Istanbul, densely brewed with bygone dreams and incurable wounds…

After the sudden death of her father, Piraye finds a love letter written and addressed to him. Coming from the days of 1968, days charged with excitement and expectation, this voice tells the story of young college students who, in all their inexperience and fears, sought revolution, comradeship, and love.  Piraye, overcome with fury over the secret kept from her for 45 years as well as the desire to get to know his father better, decides to track down the author of the letter. During her pursuit she comes to realize that each and every sentence in the letter is about the present moment and her own life as much as it is about the past.
